Troubleshooting

If something is not working, start here.

Bot looks online but does not respond

  1. Confirm the bot has permission to send messages in the channel.
  2. Try /ping in a different channel.
  3. If commands are not appearing at all, read the next section.

Slash commands are missing

This is almost always one of:

  • The bot was invited without the applications.commands scope.
  • Discord has not finished refreshing commands for the server.
  • Your role does not have permission to use the command.

Fix:

  1. Re-invite using the official link: https://lockieapp.ca/invite
  2. Wait a minute, then restart your Discord client.
  3. Make sure your role can use the command in the channel.

Logs are not posting

Checklist:

  1. On the Dashboard, confirm the log channel is set for the correct server.
  2. In the log channel, confirm Lockie can View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links.
  3. Trigger a test action and watch the log channel.

If your logs include attachments or message content, Lockie may also need Read Message History.

Protection modules are not triggering

  1. Check the module is enabled on the Dashboard.
  2. Make sure Lockie has Manage Messages in the channels you want protected.
  3. Confirm the content is not excluded by allowlists, staff roles, or safe channels.

Too many false positives

Start with allowlists and blocklists on the Dashboard.

Common fixes:

  • Allowlist trusted domains you use frequently.
  • Exempt staff roles.
  • Exempt a specific channel for links.

If you can, keep logs enabled while tuning so you can see what triggers each action.

Maintenance Mode or locks are not applying

  1. Confirm Lockie has Manage Channels.
  2. If you lock using a role, confirm the lock role exists and is configured on the Dashboard.
  3. If you lock by editing @everyone permissions, confirm no channel overrides are preventing the change.

I see 403 Missing Access or 50013 Missing Permissions

This means the bot is missing a permission in that channel or the target user has a higher role.

Fix:

  • Move Lockie’s role above the roles it needs to act on.
  • Grant the required channel permission.

I see 429 rate limit warnings

Lockie will retry automatically, but frequent edits can trigger long cooldowns.

If you see this repeatedly:

  • Reduce how often the bot edits the same message or channel topic.
  • Prefer updating one status message instead of patching multiple places.

Still stuck?

If you need help, open a support ticket and include:

  • A screenshot of the error
  • What you clicked or what command you ran
  • The channel where it happened
