Spam Detection
Spam Detection helps reduce message floods, copy-pastes, and other disruptive posting patterns.
Overview
Spam can look like rapid posting, repeated phrases, repeated links, mention storms, or copy-pasta. Lockie monitors messages and can take automated action to keep chat readable and protect members.
Configure Spam Detection
Spam Detection is configured on the Dashboard:
Typical steps:
- Open your server in the Dashboard.
- Go to the Protection or Anti Checks section.
- Enable Anti-Spam.
- Set what happens when spam is detected (for example, delete messages, timeout, or both), if your version supports it.
- Make sure your protection log channel is set so staff can review what triggered the action.
- Review allowlists and blocklists to reduce false positives.
See: Dashboard Guide
How it works
- Detection: Lockie checks message activity for patterns that commonly indicate spam.
- Actions: When a match is detected, Lockie can remove the content and apply moderation actions based on your configuration.
- Logging: A log entry is posted so staff can review what happened and adjust settings.
Best practices
- Keep a dedicated protection log channel so it is easy to tune settings.
- Allowlist trusted domains if your community shares the same links often.
- Exempt staff roles and safe channels if you have places where rapid posting is expected.
Limitations
- Some spam is designed to look normal. No detector is perfect.
- False positives are possible. Use allowlists and thresholds to tune it for your server.
